About Hartford Township
Hartford Township was formally organized in 1811. The township has a total area of 5 square miles, all land. Hartford Township is part of the Northeast section of Trumbull County. Hartford Township is one of 24 townships in Trumbull County, Ohio and is located at the east-central edge of Trumbull County, on the Pennsylvania state line. This rural township includes the Village of Orangeville. Fowler Township is located to the west of Hartford Township. To the north is Vernon Township. Brookfield Township and the Village of Yankee Lake border the Township to the south, and Mercer County, Pennsylvania borders the township to the east.
The township has a population of 1,861 and thus provides a small rural community atmosphere which many people find pleasing for raising families or retiring. The township is governed by the traditional form of township government with three township trustees and one fiscal officer that are elected by the citizens. A part-time Police Department is provided for law enforcement in the township and fire protection and EMS services are provided through contract with the adjacent Brookfield Township Fire Department. The township is part of the Joseph Badger School District with students in the township attending all grades of school at the School District’s Complex located in Vernon Township. The township has its’ own Post Office with the Zip Code of 44424. A few of the attractions and businesses located within the township include Sharon Speedway, Stanwade Metals, Hartford Orchards, Hartford Greenhouses, Hartford Hill Winery, Hartford Berry Farms, Hartford Cycles, Jones ’Processing, Kirila Fire Training, Dollar General, and Five-Points Convenient Mart.

Annual Hartford Apple Festival
*This event is planned and held by the Hartford Apple Festival Committee established under the Annual Hartford Apple Festival LLC. It is held with the permission of the Hartford Township Trustees but is governed by the Festival Committee in adherence to the rules and regulations established between the Festival Committee and the Hartford Township Trustees. All funds received and paid out are the responsibility of the Festival Committee and are in no way controlled or related to the Township Budget. The festival is
The Apple Festival is held the 3rd Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of September at the Hartford Township Municipal Building. Additional meetings are usually held in the few weeks prior to the actual festival.
Holidays in Hartford
*This event is an individually sponsored event with permission of the Hartford Township Trustees and is held the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. This involves Christmas Holiday Crafters who set up their wares at the Hartford Township Municipal Building, the Hartford Township Fire Department, the Hartford Masonic Building, the Hartford Community Church and at numerous businesses and homes within the township. Each participating location is marked by a large wooden Christmas Tree and each are included on a map listing their location. Finances for this event are controlled by the individuals sponsoring the event and are in no way related to the Township Budget. Rules and regulations governing this event are established between the sponsoring individuals and the Township Trustees.
